Bingham Court

TEND began landscape management for Bingham Court in Society Hill in the summer of 2015. This collection of townhouses designed by I.M. Pei combines low-rise buildings with garden amenities in distinctive mid-20th century style. The site and landscape are integral to the design and success of the development. The site includes an inner shared courtyard and a separate sitting garden, but the most prominent landscape feature is the collection of mature linden trees which create a spine for the circulation spaces. Pedestrian access is maintained throughout, weaving the site into the surrounding neighborhood and adding to the rich public landscapes of Philadelphia. All of the townhouses have either front or rear gardens of their own, allowing for layering of public and private space.

Care of this landscape requires coordination of arboricultural expertise, routine garden maintenance, and regular oversight of day-to-day tasks. As experienced landscape managers with a sustainable approach, TEND adds value as the Owner?s Representative in the field. We recognize the importance of involved stakeholders to the on-going care and management of a site, and understand the balance required between use and healthy landscape needs.
