In the rapidly revitalizing Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Architect/Developer, Cover LLC, recently transformed an historic warehouse into condominiums fit for a contemporary generation of urban dwellers. Working with Cover, TEND designed a concept to convert the shared, interior courtyard and roof from underused, leftover space to a vibrant community amenity. The courtyard plan calls for
moveable tables and seating, a water feature and abundant planting to complement the 4-story brick structure. It allows for comfortable social areas, private terraces for two residences, and passage for residents and visitors. The roof plan takes advantage of the exposure and city views through large and small social spaces, an extensive green roof, and vegetable gardens.
